Kirkland was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up, Kirkland spent most of her summers in Estes Park, Colorado, where she hiked and backpacked her way through the Rocky Mountains. She then attended Sewanee: the University of the South, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English. While at Sewanee, Kirkland served as a football and basketball cheerleader for the Sewanee Tigers and was an undergraduate member of the admissions committee.
Kirkland moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2010 and graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2013. While in law school, Kirkland served as a Notes Editor for the University of Memphis Law Review and received the Dean’s Award for Excellence: Best Appellate Brief. She also clerked for the Honorable Donna M. Fields in Division VII of Circuit Court in Shelby County, Tennessee.
Kirkland joined the firm in 2014 and concentrates her practice in the areas of divorce, alimony, child custody, child support, paternity, parentage, and prenuptial agreements. Kirkland is an active member of the community and has served on the Board of the Association for Women Attorneys since she graduated from law school.
Kirkland is an avid tennis player and recently, she advanced with her USTA team to the Southern Sectional Championships, where they came in second place. She also loves to read, be outside, and spend time with her adopted pot bellied pig, Piggy Smalls.
