What is Asset Forfeiture?
Asset forfeiture, also known as asset seizure, occurs when the state confiscates property related to a crime, such as alleged proceeds of criminal activity or instruments involved in said crime. This could apply to either criminal or civil offenses. The purpose of the seizure is to halt any alleged criminal activity that may be occurring.
